Reading25 min

Reread: Jem Is Mad

  1. Reread “Jem Is Mad” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “thank” and “them”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Math25 min

Math games day

  1. Play two math games your child chooses.
  2. Keep score using tens and ones.
History20 min

A thank-you note

  1. Your child writes a thank-you note to a helper in your town.
  2. Deliver it on your next errand.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: The Stamp of the North Wind

  1. Read “The Stamp of the North Wind” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. Afterward, ask: has anything like this happened to you? How was it the same, or different?
