Things to do, with their deadlines
Nothing dated for your answers. Oklahoma law does not require parents to register with or seek approval from state or local officials. The Department of Education suggests, but says it is not required by law, that you tell the principal of your school district that you plan to home school. Some schools may ask you to sign a form saying you take full responsibility for your child's education.
All year
Teach the subjects Oklahoma names: reading, writing, math, science, citizenship, US Constitution, health, safety, physical education, conservation.
Source: Oklahoma State Department of Education: Home SchoolWe did not find a state law requiring home school parents to keep particular records. The department's guidelines, which it says are not required by law, say academic progress must be established and maintained, and that on re-entry to a public school the parent must provide documentation that equivalent instruction was provided.

Good habits (not in the law)
-
Keep a copy of everything you send, and of any acknowledgement you get back, with the date.
-
Start simple records on day one: the days you teach, the books you read and a few samples of work in each subject. They help if you move, return to school or apply to college.
