Veritas Press
Veritas Press sells classical curriculum from kindergarten to 12th grade, set out by the trivium stages. A complete grade package is a year of kits for each subject that you can customize, in three forms: You Teach kits with scripted lesson plans for the parent, self-paced online courses with video and games for history and a few other subjects, or materials for its live online classes, whose class fees are extra. The 3rd grade package covers history, geography, grammar and writing, spelling, Latin, literature and Saxon math.

What it does well
- The You Teach kits come with scripted lesson plans, so the parent has each lesson laid out.
- Each grade package can be customized subject by subject, and you can mark a subject you already have to leave it out.
- The same publisher sells self-paced online courses and live online classes, so a family can hand off a subject when the parent needs help.
- Complete packages run from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Watch for
- The 3rd grade package is $1,861.90 on sale at the Good level, and the lower-priced levels depend on live online classes that cost extra.
- The 3rd grade package has no science, so you add a science course from elsewhere.
- With You Teach kits the parent teaches every subject; the self-paced online courses cover only some subjects.
- Several parts come from other publishers (Saxon math, Shurley grammar, Institute for Excellence in Writing), so the books differ in style from subject to subject.
It fits
A parent who wants a classical year with scripted lesson plans for each subject, and the choice to hand some subjects to online courses later.
It doesn’t fit
A family on a tight budget, or one that wants science and every subject in one package from one publisher.

What we read, and how we label
Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
