How do I ask for a special education evaluation for my child?
Asked by families. Answered by Peabody editors from the sources below.
Under the federal special education regulations (34 CFR 300.301), either a parent or a public agency can ask for an initial evaluation. After a parent consents, the evaluation must be completed within 60 days, or within the state's own timeframe if it sets one. Put the request in writing to your school district's special education office and keep a copy.
